20 years of collective impact.

On May 15, ArtsBuild staff, artists, and community members gathered at RISE Chattanooga to celebrate a double milestone for the Holmberg Arts Leadership Institute: the program’s 20th Anniversary and the graduation of Class of 2026. 

The evening was a beautiful reflection of what makes our creative community so special. We looked back at two decades of history with moving remarks from Rodney Van Valkenburg, Frances McDonald, Jen Larose, and James McKissic. Nola Girls Gumbo catered the event, and attendees enjoyed music from local artist Tyrezz and a breathtaking ballet folklorico performance from Ensemble de México. Graduates also received a special gift, custom-commissioned art pieces from 2026 graduate Adam Romano (@adamromano_gothicfineart).

Thanks to True Capture Studios for capturing the evening, and the past Holmberg graduates, or “Holmies” as we like to say, for celebrating this milestone for both ArtsBuild and our community.
