Andi Kur

Painter & Illustrator

Andi Kur is a Chattanooga-based painter and illustrator whose work blends her background in the biological sciences with a deep passion for visual storytelling. Before joining the Periscope program, Andi was already incorporating elements of nature, birds, and science fiction into her murals and commissioned pieces. Operating under a freelance business model, she has carved out a niche using her artistic talents to enhance the branding and messaging of organizations through visually compelling work.

One standout example is her recent collaboration with the Chattanooga Symphony, where her creative partnership helped bring a fresh visual identity to their public programming. Since participating in Periscope Year 2 — and ultimately winning the Pitch Competition — Andi has seen a meaningful expansion of her brand and an increase in organizational partnerships.

Reflecting on her Periscope experience, Andi shared:

“I joined Periscope in its second year at ArtsBuild, and I ended up winning first place in the pitch competition. The financial support from Periscope helped me expand my business into new spaces I previously didn’t have access to. But more impactful than the financial return was the program itself. Spending over half a year workshopping my business in a room full of other local entrepreneurs really helped me hone what I wanted to do — and helped others find their own vision. We built a community on common ground, even though we all came from very different backgrounds and had different business aspirations. In my opinion, this program is the embodiment of what Chattanooga is and needs to be. I’m very grateful to ArtsBuild for creating this space, even amidst a difficult funding landscape."—Andi Kur
