Behind-the-Scenes Tour of Houston Museum

The Anna Safley Houston Museum of Decorative Arts invites you to a special behind-the-scenes tour of their museum's major restoration project on Monday, April 13th. The grand reopening is scheduled for Fall 2026, but you can get a sneak peak during Arts Week while the Houston staff begins moving over 15,000 items back into the museum.

The Houston Museum is in the midst of a comprehensive three-phase restoration of our historic home. The house, originally constructed in the 1890s, requires significant updates to ensure its structural integrity and accessibility while maintaining its historical charm. Through this restoration, the Museum aims to preserve the building’s legacy while enhancing its function as a museum and community space by adding an elevator, a beautiful classroom that can be rented out when not in use, and an intimate event space overlooking the Tennessee River.

The Museum is offering two tour times on Monday, April 13, limited to 10 people.
12:00 - 1:00 pm
1:30 - 2:30 pm

To attend one of these free tours, please RSVP by emailing houstonmuseumchattanooga@gmail.com.
