High School Leadership Group Hosts ArtStart: Exploring Careers in the Arts

ReGenerate, a high school arts leadership group, will host ArtStart, a program to introduce students to career options in the arts, on Saturday, November 5 from 10 AM until 12:30 PM at the UTC Fine Arts Center.

All high school students are welcome to attend; however, the program is designed specifically for those currently in 11th and 12th grades. Sessions will include “Starting Your Arts Career” and “What to Look for in College Programs.” Participating students are encouraged to bring their portfolio (visual arts) or a brief audition piece to share, although this is not mandatory.

“ArtStart is a great partnership between ReGenerate and the UTC Departments of Art, Music, Theatre and the Southeast Center for Education in the Arts,” said Rodney Van Valkenburg, Director of Grants and Initiatives at ArtsBuild. “Many students would like to pursue careers in the arts, and this is a very informative event to help students explore college options and know what to expect in auditions and interviews.”

There is no charge to attend ArtStart. Registration will begin at 9:30 AM at the UTC Fine Arts Center on November 5 and the program will begin at 10 AM. For more information, call (423) 756-2787 or email artsbuild@artsbuild.com. Join the event on Facebook.

ArtStart is sponsored by the UTC Departments of Art, Music, Theatre; the Southeast Center for Education in the Arts, ArtsBuild, and ReGenerate.
