High School Arts Leadership Group Raises $1,500 for Elementary and Middle School Art Supplies

High school arts leadership group ReGenerate awarded a total of $1,500 to Hamilton County Department of Education teachers on May 19 during a presentation at ArtsBuild. The grants were awarded to Hamilton County elementary and middle schools to provide funding for art supplies.

HCDE elementary and middle school teachers were able to request funding, up to $500 per school, for supplies to support arts instruction. ReGenerate awarded grants to three schools: Dawn School, East Ridge Elementary, and Hardy Elementary.

The group received 13 grant applications from area schools, and a panel of high school students from the ReGenerate group selected the grant recipients.

Local high school students raised funds for the program through Ignite, A Celebration of Student Talent, which was held at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre in April.

“These grants will assist teachers in providing engaging arts instruction to students,” stated ReGenerate Co-President, Temple Glascock, a recent graduate of Signal Mountain High School. “Students care about the arts, and these grants will help them experience the arts on a deeper level.”
