Students who live in the greater Chattanooga area and are currently in grades 7-12 are eligible to enter an art contest sponsored by ArtsBuild (formerly Allied Arts). The first-place winning artwork will be featured on promotional marketing materials for ArtsBuild’s new event, Breakfast on the Bridge, an event to support arts education.
All submitted artwork must be original and created by the student. Any 2-dimensional media will be accepted (pencil, watercolor, ink, photography, etc.). Artwork must include image(s) of the Walnut Street Bridge and be no larger than 9 x 12 inches. The deadline for entries is Friday, February 27, 2015 at 5 p.m. Artwork can be mailed or hand-delivered to ArtsBuild’s office at 406 Frazier Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37405.
The first-place winner’s artwork will be featured on Breakfast on the Bridge promotional materials and will be on display at the Hunter Museum of American Art for the month of May. The first-place winner will also receive a $200 cash prize.
“Since Breakfast on the Bridge is centered on raising funds for arts education, we really wanted to feature original student artwork in the marketing materials for the event,” said Rodney Van Valkenburg, ArtsBuild’s Director of Grants and Initiatives.
Breakfast on the Bridge is a new event that will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2015 on the Walnut Street Bridge. The event will raise money to support ArtsBuild’s education programs and will include food, children’s art activities, and entertainment.
